The HYPE Movement (Helping Youth Pursue Emancipation) is an international youth liberation movement that encourages young people to transform their lives by emancipating their minds from all negativity, embracing their dreams, educating themselves, empowering their lives, engaging in community action, and striving for excellence to help create the kind of positive change that they would like to see in the world.
I was thrilled when I was contacted by my good friend 'Anapesi Ka'ili to help out with this shoot!
These young people, all of whom are high school students, are bright, talented, community advocates and the list goes on!!!
This particular shoot was for a couple of things:
Pacific Islander Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign
and the
Rock the Pacific Islander Vote Campaign
Both are issues I am passionate about and so I'm grateful I could be involved.
Thank you to everyone involved in making this possible: 'Anapesi Ka'ili, Lavinia Taumoepeau, Tessi Tolutau and Amber Iund. A special shout out to the amazing HYPE Ambassadors who came out and worked the camera despite crappy weather and bad lighting...haha: Tinola Rosales, Abigail Langi, Mosese Manu, Vaofua Ka'ili, Kayla Bloomfield, 'Anapesi Ka'ili, and Kotahi Tarawhiti.
